Artwork and Architecture

Florence was very famous for its beautiful artwork and marvelous sculptures. Florence was also home to many great artists, such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Fra Angelico, and Giotto. Writers such as Dante, Petrarch, and Buccacio were some of the first Italian writers and set out to interest Florentines in classic literature through their work.

Then there were magnificent sculptures and buildings that displayed the Florentines' amazing architectural abilities, such as the Bronze Doors, the Ponte Vecchio bridge, the Santa Maria Novella, and David. These were all created by artists and architects that lived in Florence at the time.

Since the Florentines lived in a place abundant in lovely art and outstanding literature, the place that they called home was colorful and full of artistic inspiration, and it still is today. Without the amazing artists, architects, and sculptors living in that time, the city of Florence would be like Sparta, with nothing to brighten the lives of those who lived there.
