Description: This introductory course will focus on utilizing a multimedia courseware in the technology environment. Participants will be introduced to the instructional design process utilizing the latest software that could be used in any classroom. (Software covered will be Hyperstudio)
Prerequisites: Computer literacy
Resources: Please bring 2 floppy disks to class, and curriculum materials to work on

The course will enable teachers to:
1.explore a variety of technology applications which can be used to help deliver and/or support instruction,
2.design activities which uses technology to deliver and/or support instruction.

Activities (to achieve objectives):
The course participants will be introduced to a variety of software. Information will be provided by demonstrations and handouts to teach the participants how to use each application and how each may be used to enhance instruction. Guided and individual practice activities will promote each participant's technical competency for using computer technology to support and extend instructional activities.
PROPOSAL FOR Hyperstudio Basics
I. Hyperstudio Basics
A.JUSTIFICATION:The Computer Education program needs to develop and
enhance computer education literacy. Students need to function in a
technological society with necessary skills for post-secondary education
or for the world of work. The purpose of this course is to provide needed
inservice training and instructional resources for teachers who have not
received training, or teachers who need to improve their background
knowledge to incorporate technology into their curriculum.
B.GOALS:This course is designed for teachers to explore the technology
resources to collaboratively plan, design and share ideas that integrates
across the curriculum.

II. COURSE INSTRUCTOR:
A.Curriculum VITA
B. Kelvin Chun is currently the technology teacher for
Nuuanu Elementary School, and formerly the Multimedia Learning Center Coordinator for Waialae School, and technology resource teacher for the Campbell Complex. He has taught numerous TECS, ETEC and EDCI courses for
the College of Continuing Education for six summers, technology classes for elementary students, mathematics to secondary school students for 7 years and DOE computer workshops for teachers for 10 years. Kelvin was also the DOE's Computer Educational Specialist during 1990-1991. He has also taught computer classes for the DOE's adult education program. Kelvin uses a variety of teaching strategies in the
classroom.
