Inspired by Hawaii Winners - Poster and Essay
The Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation "Inspired in Hawaii" Contest encourages Hawaii's students to "dream big and make Hawaii a better place."
Over $10,000 in cash awards and other prizes will be awarded. The contest is open to students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 who are current residents of the state of Hawaii. Each entry must identify an existing problem in Hawaii and offer a thoughtful solution to the problem. Students must also include a supporting statement which demonstrates a clear connection between their project and the life of Clarence T. C. Ching.
Prizes will be awarded in each of the three divisions: Poster, Essay and Video.
Poster Division: Grades K-12, individual entries only

POSTER DIVISION (open to grades K-12, individual entries only)
Judging Criteria (as appropriate for each grade level):
Content (25 percent of score): Is the message clear? Does the poster clearly depict a problem? Does the poster clearly offer a solution to the problem?
Creativity (25 percent of score): Does the poster demonstrate creativity and originality in depicting the problem and in offering a solution?
Theme (25 percent of score): Does the poster or accompanying written statement clearly explain how the solution offered is inspired by or similar to the example set by Clarence T.C. Ching?
Craftsmanship (25 percent of score): Does the poster have strong visual impact? Does the poster show elements of good design?
One (1) winner from each grade level in the Poster Division will be selected to receive a $100 cash prize and two (2) Jamba Juice certificates.
Each $100-prize grade level winner is eligible to win an additional Grand Prize or Second Place Prize:
Grades K - 3:
Grand Prize of $500 cash award; $200 in restaurant gift certificates; Two (2) Jamba Juice "Free Smoothie" certificates and a $10 Barnes & Noble gift card
Second Place Prize of $250 cash award; $100 in restaurant gift certificates; Two (2) Jamba Juice "Free Smoothie" certificates and a $10 Barnes & Noble gift card
