Nuuanu Elementary School
Parent Community Networking Center
Research evidence confirms that parental involvement in the child's education not only raises the achievement level of the child, but has a positive effect on esteem and school effectiveness.
Parent-Community Networking Centers were designed in the school to develop a sense of community in and among the home, classroom, and neighborhood. This program was started to help nurture the relationship between the community and the school. Your parent facilitator hopes to create and strengthen caring networks for parents, school staff, students, and classroom units. Each P.C.N.C. is staffed with a part-time parent facilitator who works 17 hours a week.
Together, all of us have the challenging and exciting opportunity to create our own P.C.N.C. at Nuuanu School. Some of the past activities and programs include coordinating parent volunteers, workshops for teachers and parents, newsletters, and connecting the school and the home. You are invited to be an active participant in your child's education at Nuuanu, through P.C.N.C. Feel free to call your Parent Facilitator at 595-4687.
SCHOOL VOLUNTEER PROGRAM: The need for school volunteers is usually publicized through our PC.N.C. survey in September. You need not be skilled or licensed to volunteer your services. You may volunteer your services as a classroom facilitator, classroom tutor or helper, office or library assistant, for Aikane 0 Nuuanu positions, Family Fun Night, School/Community Based Manage ment representative or for our special programs or excursions. Contact our Parent Facilitator, Aikane O Nuuanu board members or the school principal.
