WHAT STUDENT SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE?
HEALTH: Health services provided by the State Department of Health includes hearing and vision tests for selected grade levels and dental health education. A Health Room Aide is employed through the Department of Health. The duties of the school Health Aide include emergency care for students who become ill or injured at school, health instruction and health record maintenance. The phone number of the Health Aide is 595-2032.
The Health Room is for emergency care only. Please cooperate with the Health Aide by com ing promptly to pick up your youngster when called. Please notify us immediately of any changes in your home or work telephone number and emergency information. This is vital for your child.
Teachers and school personnel are prohibited from dispensing any medication. Only the Health Aide may give medication under certain conditions and guidelines. Specific procedures and authorization from the Department of Health are required for this.
GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING: Guidance is a part of our daily school program and classroom instruction. The services of our school counselor are available to students, parents, and teachers. Children may refer themselves or be referred by teachers and/or parents. The staff at our school is concerned with the academic as well as social development of the children.
The school counselor can also assist parents, teachers, and students with testing and diagnostic services. She can assist parents by going over test results as well as in seeking the services of other agencies, resources, and personnel.
LIBRARY: The Library is available to all students during recesses and school hours. Instruction in library and research skills are scheduled and provided for each class by the librarian.
