Summer School
Aikane 0 Nuuanu is a nonprofit parent/teacher organization that supports and complements the educational mission of Nuuanu Elementary School by sponsoring a yearly summer program at the school. The Aikane 0 Nuuanu Summer program provides the vehicle for continued learning by providing students an opportunity during the summer to engage in enriching experiences to extend their learning. The summer program includes an Early Arrival Program, Summer School Program, and an Afterschool Summer Fun Program and are all designed with the whole child in mind. The Summer School program consists of an activity-oriented curriculum designed around the concept of "Learning to Learn by Doing". Depending on the individual needs of the students based on teacher assessment, the basis skills are integrated within the enriched activities.
Since enrollment is limited, parents are advised to submit their applications promptly after receiving notice of its availability. Although the summer program is designed for students attending Nuuanu Elementary School, children from other schools may be accepted.
