Technology Club

1998-1999

 

Article I-Name

The name of this organization shall be Nuuanu Elementary School Technology Club (or otherwise decided upon by the members).

 

Article II-Purpose

1. To create an interest in technology and its role in society.

2. To prepare students to deal effectively with an increasing information-based society.

3. Encourage members to participate in service to the community and school.

4. Develop character, prepare for useful citizenship and leadership.

 

Article III-Membership

1. Membership shall consist of students of Nuuanu Elementary School.

2. To obtain membership a recommendation from the classroom teacher is made to a screening committee. The screening committee makes the final decision on selection.

3. The officers, members of the screening committee or the classroom teacher have the right to terminate any membership in the club due to a member's unacceptable behavior.

 

Article IV- Members

1. Members will have the privilege of presenting ideas or suggestions to the club.

2. Members will have voting privileges on any club activity.

3. The majority of the members' votes will decide whether or not an issue shall be passed.

4. Each officer and member will be given the privilege of one vote.

 

Article V- Meetings

1. Meetings will be held on Wednesday from 11:30-12:30 pm. The calendar will be set according to the school calendar.

2. Each member and officer shall be present at all meetings.

3. Excused absences from meetings will be determined by an officer and/or advisor.

 

Article VI-Election of Officers

1. The annual election of President, Vice President, Program Coordinator, Treasurer and Secretary will be held at the beginning of the school year.

2. The election will be conducted by secret ballot. The count will be made by the advisor(s).

3. The candidates will choose their position of office.

 

Article VII-Officer Qualifications

1. The officers must be willing to devote their free time to their duties of office.

2. He/she must not let other school and club activities interfere with his/her obligations.

 

Article VIII-Officers

A. President

1. Presides over all meetings.

2. Examines the report of the secretary and treasurer before each meeting.

3. Appoints committees.

4. Coordinates all club activities.

5. Has the authority to call special meetings.

6. Is responsible for notifying the members of the meetings.

7. Meets with the club officers to plan the meetings.

 

B. Vice-President

1. Presides at meetings in the absence of the president.

2. Assists the president in the discharge of duties.

3. Acts as a membership chairperson by managing recruitment activities.

4. Works with the secretary and the treasurer in keeping the membership roster up-to-date.

5. Responds to potential-member queries.

6. Investigates the progress of the assigned committees and is held responsible for reporting the action of the committees to the president and advisor.

7. Takes any responsibilities assigned by the president.

 

C. Secretary

1. Prepares the minutes of the club meetings and makes copies for the president, club file and the secretary's own file.

2. Prepares and circulates the agenda for each club meeting.

3. Attends to official correspondence.

4. Distributes meeting notices.

5. Counts and tabulates votes.

6. Prepares club reports.

7. Keeps a secretarial file containing the treasurer's reports, committee reports and all transactions of the club.

8. Takes accurate minutes.

9. Keeps accurate membership rosters (with treasurer and membership chairperson.)

10. Makes any reservations.

 

D. Treasurer

1. Receives and acts as custodian of all club monies.

2. Collects all monies and assumes responsibility for their safe keeping.

3. Maintains current financial records.

4. Keeps a record of all receipts and expenditures for the club.

5. Files all club transactions.

 

E. Program Coordinator

1. Assists the president in carrying out meeting plans by contacting speakers, posting notices, securing and preparing the meeting room and assembling meeting materials.

2. Manages recruitment activities.

3. Works with the secretary and the treasurer in keeping the membership rosters up-to-date.
