How do we follow the fourth Be and Be Healthy?

In the battle against yucky bacteria and germs, things that can make us sick, we can be healthy and be the winners by protecting ourselves with one very simple but important step!

Play part of Hand wash song

Germs and bacteria are everywhere, especially on every day surfaces that we touch. If we all practiced good hand washing, we could wash away those yucky germs from our hands, helping ourselves and others to be healthy too!

Our old friend, Henry the Hand has some great tips on good hand washing, with four principles of hand awareness (show poster)
1. Wash your hands when they are dirty and before eating
2. Do not cough into your hands
3. Do not sneeze into your hands
4. Above all, do not put your fingers in your eyes, nose or mouth

(Students act out wrong way of sneezing and coughing into hands- switch to Miss Sally shaking her head- students act out correct way of sneezing and coughing into elbows- switch to Miss Sally smiling and nodding approval)

Does everyone know how to wash your hands properly?
(show poster)

1.Wet Hands
2. Use soap and warm water
3. Scrub up (you should be able to sing happy birthday twice while scrubbing)
4. Rinse off
5. Towel dry

So, Nuuanu, lets win the battle against yucky bacteria and germs, by doing the hand wash! See you next time, and in between,

Remember…. To….. Beeeeeeee Healthy!
